The General Workers' Union has sought to do better with its members and allow workers to go out for convalescence in its institutions. Due to the small number of places, the employees had to wait until the permit was received, and the employee did not always get to go on recovery during the vacation period approved for him at the workplace. In many cases, spouses went on vacations in different places and at different times, each according to the date of his vacation and the permission given to him. Accommodation conditions were far from ideal - overcrowding, room neighbors, shared toilets and showers for all the rooms on the floor and basic furniture; But vacationers came mostly for the sake of the scenery, the fresh air, the garden - and especially the meals, since in the 1930s to 1960s, and especially during the austerity period, people went on convalescence leave to gain weight, not to lose weight.
